What is PAS (Personal Assistance Services)?

Personal Assistance Services (PAS) is a nontechnical, medically related personal care service provided to eligible individuals who, due to health conditions or disabilities, experience limitations in performing essential daily living activities. Services are authorized based on a practitioner’s statement of medical need and are delivered by trained attendants.

Who Needs PAS?

PAS is designed to support individuals—especially older adults—who require help with basic tasks of living. The need for assistance may arise due to factors such as:

• Gender
• Disability
• Health status
• Living arrangements

Reasons for Needing PAS:

• Difficulty managing daily self-care
• Chronic illness or disability
• Recovery from surgery or injury
• Cognitive impairments

Tasks That May Be Provided (If Approved):

Personal Care Tasks:

• Bathing
• Dressing
• Feeding
• Exercising
• Grooming, shaving, and oral hygiene
• Routine hair and skin care
• Toileting assistance

• Walking/ambulation support

Home Management Tasks:

• Light cleaning
